Time to get ready for the U.S. Open! I am pulling for Justin Johnson this year.
So, the weather is starting to change, though I do not believe that we will have a summer. Hopefully the weather will heat up and the fairways will become harder so we can get some role on our drives. We have been playing winter golf since last September here in Oregon. The ball is not carrying the way we wish, every shot plugging, greens real soft, and if you play later in the day bumpy from all the players.
Hack Fest is “official” at our home course Diamond Woods Course in Monroe Oregon; we have our set weekday tee times set under our group name. I am also marshaling for Diamond woods this year. I have always wanted to see how a golf course functions as a business, and after talking with the course owner, I signed up to marshal. I am looking forward to volunteering out there.
I am suffering through inconsistent play this year, not being consistent off the tee’s, quick swings on my long irons, and not following through with my chip shots….I have scores between 44 & 54 for nine, and 92 & 104 for 18…My putting is getting better, but I need to take more time reading the green and less time over the ball.
Howdy,
I started playing golf with my brother John and best friend Mike about 20 years back. I have no grand illusions of play on any type of tour, I just like to play. Mike and I created “Hack Fest” back in 2003 so that we could get away for a couple of days just to play golf (and poker!). We have 6 original members, besides Mike and I, my brothers John and Mike, Jim, and Big Joe. We have held Hack Fest every year since 2003 with trips to the Oregon coast, Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon, and Mesquite Nevada!
I have decided that I need to improve my game. I’ve been shooting on the high 90s and have set a goal of trying to break 80 (hopefully in my lifetime). I have create this blog so that my friends can track my progress (and my regress), as well comment of courses that we play, games that we play, and friends that we make. I guarantee that there will not be any “men’s club” as friends, as we find most of them to be overrated, have delusions of grandeur, and some of the worst complainers of other golfers.
Well, enough about me….FORE!
